This easy Keto Smoked Salmon Pizza recipe works up with very little effort, and is a SUPER flavourful, satisfying meal. Feels fancy, too!
Way back, I started making rye bagels for my husband, which were an amazing based for flavoured cream cheese, smoked salmon, and all the fixings.
I got the idea to make a rye inspired pizza dough, and started using that as a pizza base for making smoked salmon pizzas. DAMN they looked great - an elegant, light meal!
Just, you know... full of gluten and carbs. COMPLETELY off the menu, for me.
Eventually, I got tired of wallowing in jealousy, and decided to come up with a low carb version of that unique pizza.
This delicious pizza is almost everything I wanted, when I’d make the OG version for him.
The crust isn’t quite the same, but it has great flavour, and acts as a great base for everything I top it with.
Really, any pizza is all about the toppings, right?
Anyway, it’s a really fun dish, and sure to satisfy any number of cravings related to smoked salmon, smoked salmon bagels, etc.
Let’s get to it!
Ingredients
This recipe uses relatively simple ingredients; you shouldn’t have any problem finding everything in any larger grocery stores.
As always, a few notes for you:
Smoked Salmon
While hot-smoked salmon - like my Hot Smoked Sockeye Salmon Recipe is fantastic, you’re going to want to use cold-smoked salmon for this recipe.
Hot smoked salmon is a cooked salmon, with the expected flaky texture. It could definitely be tasty on a pizza, but it’s a whole other product entirely.
Cold smoked salmon is cured, rather than cooked. This gives it a completely different texture - buttery and pliable, rather than flaky.
You can generally find good quality smoked salmon on cards or in fancy boxes in the fish section, frozen seafood section, or sometimes even the refrigerated section of the deli in larger grocery stores.
Unsweetened Almond Milk
I use Unsweetened Almond Milk in this recipe, as it’s a good low carb milk alternative, and it’s what I always have on hand.
That said, you can use any milk or dairy-free milk alternative you like - just keep it unsweetened, and unflavoured.
A sweet, vanilla flavoured milk will NOT taste good in this dough!
Toppings
So, I have a set group of toppings that I kind of default to when making this pizza:
Lemon Zest
Fresh Dill
Red Onion
Green Onions
Capers
... that said, you can top this smoked salmon pizza any way you like. If you’d put it on a smoked salmon bagel, or Smoked Salmon Canapes.. It’s fair game!
Golden caviar, chopped red pepper, fresh chives - all great alternatives (or additions!) to my own!
Everything Else
Rounding out this recipe, you will need:
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Super Fine Almond Flour
Cream Cheese
1 Large Egg
Flax Meal
Caraway Seeds
Baking Powder
Xanthan Gum
Salt and Ground Black Pepper

How to Make Keto Smoked Salmon Pizza
The full recipe is in the printable recipe card at the end of this post, here is the pictorial walk through:
Before getting started, I like to prepare all the topping ingredients, cover the plate with plastic wrap, and keep it in the fridge while I make the pizza.
Keto Pizza Dough
Preheat oven to 400 F, line a baking sheet or pizza pan with a sheet of parchment paper.
Measure mozzarella cheese into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat - 30-45 seconds at a time - until cheese has melted.
Measure remaining ingredients into a food processor - except the egg - blitz to combine. Add the eggs, blitz once more to fully combine.
Add melted cheese to the food processor, pulse until well combined - you don’t want to see any sections of unmixed cheese.
Note: You can roll pizza dough with a rolling pin, but I find it so much easier to just press this style of dough with wet hands.
Prick all over with a fork.
... then bake in the preheated oven for 13 minutes, until you have a perfectly golden crust.
Dilled Cream Cheese Sauce
In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together softened cream cheese and almond milk until smooth and well combined.
Add dill and lemon zest, stir well to combine.
Season with salt and pepper to taste; keep warm until crust is baked.
Finishing Touches
Once keto pizza crust is baked, spread a thin layer of the warm cream cheese sauce on top of the pizza crust, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.
Top with smoked salmon slices, red onion slices, capers, sliced green onion, dill, and lemon zest, as desired.
Serve immediately!
Make Ahead / Leftovers
This pizza recipe doesn’t really reheat well, so I don’t recommend expecting leftovers from it.
You can make the crust ahead - bake it til it’s golden brown, as instructed. Allow the baked crust to cool to room temperature, then wrap it in plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat before spreading with warm sauce and the toppings.
Need fewer servings? Make the dough into two smaller pizzas, and just save half the sauce for later use with the second pizza!
