Starting out - or continuing - on a low carb way of life can be intimidating!

Here are some of the equipment and snacks that I love - and that make things easier and/or tastier!

    My Go-To Kitchen Equipment

    Food Processor

SO many of my recipes rely on a food processor - or at least are a lot easier with one.

Personally, I love my Cuisinart Elite Collection 12-Cup Food Processor.

I had one for many years, and it eventually gave out (I used it MUCH more than the average household user, was shocked it lasted as long as it did). Couldn't find that style when I went to replace it, bought a different Cuisinart... wasn't in love it with.

Finally bought another ELite Collection one on Black Friday, much happier!

That said, for any average household usage... you can honestly even find a used food processor if you'd like. Even the cheapest ones make life SO much easier - I started out with an ancient, second hand one!

    Grater

I recently upgraded my 10+ year old, held-together-with-an-epoxy-fix box cheapo box grater with a KitchenAid Gourmet 4-Sided Stainless Steel Box Grater, and now I feel like I have to sing its praises to anyone who will listen!

Who knew that a nice grater could make SUCH a difference?

It grates so much easier, and makes these huge, luxurious shreds of cheese. I probably sound ridiculous, but I LOVE it!

    Spiralizer

A spiralizer is a great thing to have on hand when you're looking to eat more vegetables - it makes eating them more FUN.

Also, it's a basic requirement for making Zoodles - Zucchini noodles - like in my Chicken Piccata Zoodles, Singapore Mai Fan Style Zoodles, Chicken Enchilada Zoodles, and Peanut Chicken Zoodles.

I have a 7 Blade Vegetable Spiralizer, and LOVE it. 100% recommend!

    My Favourite Low Carb Snacks

    Protein Shakes

Long before going low carb, I was a devout fan of Revolution Nutrition.

I was instructed to pick up some BCAAs, went to a local supplement store, tried a few samples, and landed on Revolution as *the favourite*. They had a line of BCAAs that were very accurately flavoured like popular candies - green frogs, sour cherry blasters, fuzzy peach gummies, and more.

They've got the same flavours across one of their protein powder lines, as well as several other lines of protein powder.

In their regular offerings, I'm a huge fan of the Chocolate Banana one (WHICH THEY DON'T SEEM TO HAVE LISTED NOW!?!?), but in general, I'm all about the candy ones.

Banana pop, Sour cherry, grape slice, sour watermelon, and green frogs are my favourites, but they're all fantastic. The accuracy of the aroma and flavours are *wild*.

    Twin Peaks Cheese Puffs

This time around with low carb, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there are now several varieties of "Protein puffs" - low carb, high protein cheese "cheesey poof" substitutes.

I've tried a few, was not super impressed with all of them, but the Twin Peaks brand is fantastic - great flavour and crunch!

They come in several flavours, including Nacho Cheese, Jalapeno Cheddar, Sour Cream & Onion, Margherita Pizza, Mesquite BBQ, and Garlic Parmesan. (My favourites are Jalapeno Cheddar and Sour Cream and Onion)

The nice thing is that because they're so high in protein, you feel satisfied after a handful or two. I would have a really hard time going through a whole bag in a sitting.

    Quest Chips

Quest Chips are low carb tortilla chip substitutes that are high in protein, and HIGHLY seasoned. They come in several flavours, like Loaded Taco, Nacho Cheese, Ranch, Spicy Sweet Chili, and Chili Lime.

Personally, I find them a little too salty to eat on their own, but they're fantastic with a bit of guacamole, sour cream, and/or Keto Salsa.

I love them as a topping on my Keto Taco Salad
